É óbvio que desde o lançamento desse jogo a indústria evoluiu bastante, mas as pessoas que têm contato com ele hoje em dia precisam entender o quão revolucionário ele foi. Julgá-lo se baseando nos parâmetros atuais é um anacronismo sem sentido. Dito isso, essa é a melhor versão do jogo, sem dúvida nenhuma. Street Fighter 2 é conhecido por suas inúmeras versões, e essa é a definitiva delas, pois junta tudo que havia de melhor nas outras.
