Summary

The story follows Fiona Belli, a young girl who the player must guide through Belli Castle and its immediate environments in an effort to escape. Along the way, players must solve puzzles, unlock doors and evade, hide or attempt to fight against the castle's inhabitants. Fiona is accompanied by Hewie, a White Shepherd and the two must work as a team to solve certain puzzles and outwit their pursuers.

I don't remember the last time I played something different or unique.Usually I don't play survival horror games, but this one surprised me.Enjoyed the gameplay.Loved the controls, level design, voice acting, and character models. The game is scary as fuck.As soon as you start the game, everybody is chasing you for "Azoth".There are 5 stalker enemies that you got to run away from, hide, solve puzzles and procceed to the next area.If you are being chased for long time, you enter a panic mode which is frustrating because it's hard to control main protagonist. The highlight for me is Hewie,a dog shepperd, that helps the main protagonist with puzzles, fights, etc. The entire right analog stick controls are dedicated to him.You can tell him to sit, shake, attack and to follow you.Based on how you treat him,you get one of the 4 endings.Treat him like you treat your own dog if you don't want "D" ending of the game.Loved the collectibles, soundtrack is very creppy and atmospheric.I can see myself play this game more than once, you can even play as Hewie in secret room mode, and beating the game unlocks hard mode and costumes. Some of the costumes are very...provocative.One thing that really bugs me about HG is how this game never got a sequel, maybe because people care more about Resident Evil games. It's kinda weird to me. Because IMO,Haunting Ground destroys every Resident Evil game combined in terms of survival horror aspects. You are not supposed to use weapons because that makes you feel safe, here you have to use your brain and figure out what to do next. This game makes you feel unease, scared, and traumatized. If I played this 10 years ago,I would probably go insane, but whatever.Boss fights are very creative even though it's confusing what you gotta do sometimes. Also I wasn't a fan of puzzles in later levels and backtraking. Not every game is perfect, but this is without a doubt the best survival horror game I ever played and best game from Capcom for me

Fantastic stalker horror game. Music is quite disturbing, puzzles are good (love the typewriter passwords), all of the places you visit in your journey look fantastic.
Our beautiful protagonist, the sweet Fiona Belli, finds herself locked in a giant castle after being involved in a car crash that killed her parents. With no idea of how and why she got there, she needs to find a way out, but there are people hunting her down in the hopes of obtaining her "Azoth". Can Fiona's innocence and purity escape the antagonists' corruption? Only you can decide that, thanks to a system of multiple endings influences by some of your decisions and your actions.
The game received a lot of backlash because "this game says women are weak!11!!1!1" simply because you mostly use your trusty dog companion, good boi Hewie, to defend yourself from the stalkers. God forbid that a beautiful woman despises fighting, even when she clearly fights and kills other people in the game, but well.. Making a huge chandelier fall on someone's head, impaling someone with a huge shard of glass, or making someone fall from a 50 meters tall tower is being "incapable of defending oneself", I suppose. Not everyone has to enjoy killing/hurting even if it means surviving. Retards.
Anyway this game is great, try it out for yourself and see if it's your cup of tea.
