Summary

Prepare for the Future with Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition, experience the most acclaimed game of 2008 like never before. Create a character of your choosing and descend into an awe-inspiring, post-apocalyptic world where every minute is a fight for survival.

One of my favorite Fallout games ever. The gameplay is definitely dated now but I still love the exploring of it, the story, and the music so much. Easy 10/10.

A decent enough entry from a new (at the time) studio, even if (speaking as a classic fan) it is clearly the start of the flanderisation of the series. If planning on playing on PC look into 'A Tale of Two Wastelands,' a mod for Fallout: New Vegas that ports 3 into that, mostly so you can actually run the game.

Honestly not sure why people love this game so much. I'm sure at the time it was a lot more unique but playing it through for the first time in 2024 I was struggling to have fun. I did have a good time at first while I was doing the main story. The level up and perk system I felt was far better than other Bethesda games I've played; I didn't have to do cheesy and repetitive stuff to gain xp, I just had to play the game normally. But once I beat the game and started exploring and doing side quests I really could not find anything enjoyable. The vast majority of the world has nothing of value in it, there's a very small variety of weapons and enemy types, and the cities somehow are very empty and so difficult to navigate through. I'm not sure if it's because if hardware limitations at the time but the cities have almost no building that can be entered and rubble prevents you from walking through them at all. You can walk around a small fraction of the city and then use the subway system to get to other fractions of the city. So many times I was right next to the location I wanted to go and I couldn't get to it because I didn't know what path would bring me there. The level up system also turned out to not be so great once I got a few skills to level 100 and had no gameplay changes to should for it, like games such as Oblivion would have. This is the first Fallout game I've played through the story completely and attempted to do more and I'm very let down
