This game allows the player to control more than one character, and it is the first one in the Dragon Quest series to do so. The player controls his or her characters as they move in the game world. They can search treasure chests, talk and trade with villagers, equip weapons and armor, and cast spells.

But since it was originally published as a way to experience the original game on mobile phones, I don't think anybody can't blame it for doing what it was meant to do.
Everything else you can say about this game is what you can say about the original DQII and its ports: the gameplay is the same as the first in the series with slightly adjustment and more characters to Battle with and against you.
It's good, but It definitely overstay its welcome after a while, moreso because of its dungeon design and progression checkpoints.
