Summary

Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops. The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity. In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6. Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.

One of the best campaigns in some time and the multiplayer is extremely fun.

Very polished, no bugs. This is what we all came for!

Campaign-wise it was a huge step up from Modern Warfare III. Like this was the result of a failed experiment, crafting missions and open-world maps with a level of finesse and detail that was lacking in MW3.

The narrative arc of Case, the experimented super soldier, adds a fresh twist to the genre with an already successful main idea of kind-of drugged main characters, offering players a unique experience as they navigate through the game's missions. The horror missions made sense. And Harrow being the voice inside Case's head telling Case to kill Harrow was just poetic, although the abrupt ending left me kind-of mad. And the climax was not high enough for me to be honest...

The gameplay mechanics have received a boost, maintaining the series' (BO) reputation for fast-paced action while introducing new elements like the enhanced jumping mechanism, which allows for greater mobility and turning ability mid-air. This, along with the ability to run in various ways, were needed without me knowing.

Multiplayer aspects, while still too early to fully assess, show promise despite some initial problems regarding the beginner maps and weapon upgrades. It seems the developers may have taken a step back with the weapon system, which feels like a downgrade from what was offered in MW3. However, time will tell how these elements will develop and if they will live up to the high standards set by the franchise's storied multiplayer history.

And also playing the game on gamepass rather than spending 70 bucks was just a huge blessing!

This is the best cod game of the past few years, which isn’t saying a whole lot. Less weapon variety, terrible multiplayer maps, and okay zombies make it subpar at best. It has its moments, but those moments pale in comparison to everything else wrong with the game.

*VETERAN* BO6 brings an interesting twist on the genre, taking inspiration from RPGs and story-driven games to create a story that is engaging, unpredictable and enjoyable. Whilst some of the more "free-roam" missions can feel drawn out, the linear missions feel full, well thought out and detailed. The new Omnimovement can make navigating the story slightly unorthodox, as often gunplay requires you to take cover whilst remaining still. BO6 does feel like it lacks in arsenal variation, with many of the missions giving you the same weapons with subtle changes. However, I can appreciate the level of creativity applied to what is a relatively cut-and-paste franchise; Black Ops 6 delivers a campaign worthy of a thorough playthrough for fans of any genre.
