Summary

The 2008 edition in the Smackdown vs. Raw series holds new features to the WWE game franchise. This is the first in the series to include the extremists of ECW, including The Sandman, Marcus Cor Von and CM Punk. The game also features a new struggle submission system, new weapon choices including guitars, and eight superstar fighting styles, including Showman, Powerhouse, High-Flyer and more. Each player can now choose a primary and a secondary fighting style. It continues the legend trend and new arenas, such as Wrestlemania 23, Unforgiven and Summerslam as well as the classic superstars like Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair. The roster largely depends on the platform, and some versions include wrestlers not available in the other ones.

7.5/10 People talk a lot about how this one is bad. I will be one of the rare ones who says that is not the case. First of all the only reason people hate this game so much is because of the roster size. Sure it only has 53 wrestlers in,I agree that it affects GM mode, and season mode, another bad thing is season mode. When there is storyline it's interesting, but cutscenes become repetitive after a while so I understand why people dislike this. But here are positives. I love the wrestling styles feature. Playing as powerhouse, high fluyer, tecnician, submission artist etc. It added a lot of variety in matches, because you can always see which one is better than another. Body damage system was also a nice edition. Hardcore wrestling ECW style was the highlight for me. So many extreme moves and moments you can do,crowd fighting, interacting with them. Soundtrack was pure nostalghia. It would have been nice if everyone who was in 2007 in wwe was added in this game like RVD,Benoit,Benjamin etc.Hall of fame was awesome, rdliving some of the childhood memories in legend difficulty. My point is this game got more positives than negatives so hating is injustice IMO. It was better than most modern day games,it doesn't deserve so many hate from gamers. If you want to play this game how you imagined it,just go to Sean O Connor's yt channel. All the wrestlers missing, attires are in the mod,and trust me modded version of this game is worthy of 8 or even 9. For me it was a good game

GM mode is the only reason this game is so highly rated by the Wrestling game community.

What a hidden gem for the PSP. This game was horrible on the other platforms but really plays amazingly in the PSP. Highly recommend. Great graphics. However I'm not a fan of combining the season mode with manager mode. All around it's still great. SVR on PSP just hits different.

As a kid I loved this game and now as an adult I see why it primarily has a negative bubble around it

I don't think it is bad but it's just kind of generic the gameplay was weird on the plus side the story mode was decent and this was the first game to fully include ECW getting to play as CM Punk was huge along with the return of Jeff Hardy

More of the same but still fun. Always got annoyed that they were a year out of sync with the Wrestlemania entrance set
