Summary

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is a top-down action game with puzzle-solving elements similar to the original The Legend of Zelda. After the side-scrolling and RPG-like gameplay of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, the game is a return to the top-down view and gameplay style of the first installment. It introduces major new items to the series such as the Master Sword and the concept of two different worlds, which was revisited to some extent in Ocarina of Time with two distinct time periods rather than dark and light worlds.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, is a fantastic SNES journey in the series. This game is full of excellent puzzles, characters, and adventure. I really enjoyed all aspects of this game. The music was stellar. The visuals were wonderful for the era hardware. The puzzles challenging. I really enjoyed the light/dark world aspects as well, opening up whole avenues for secrets to discover. The Legend of Zelda series really hit its stride with this game, and it is certainly one of the best in a series packed with incredible adventures. No complaints here, a solid experience.

Considering this is only the 3rd zelda on top of its predassors being so different from one another, and needing to work with new 16bit technology. The developers knocked this game out of the park. Proper world design, proper narrative, PROPER FUCKING SOUND TRACK GOOD GOD. while the other 2 zelda defintly try there best to add on to the grand work of A link to the past. It's all in vain in my opinion, because they nailed 2d zelda the first time around. The only thing you could do to top it would be to add a Z axis. To knock this game down a few pegs, parts of the game still feel a tad to cryptic and while the sprite works iconic, it is rather simple. But I mean come on I'm nit picking at this point. Good ass game.

Great game. Despite the technical limitations of the time, it holds up fairly well. My only gripe is the mission design, which doesn’t completely hold up today.
