Despite its mostly negative reception, I enjoyed this (for the most part). Brainless fun that is an enjoyable experience if you go in open minded. This is not Arkham level quality but it is nice to see Gotham City again.
On that note, this is easily my favorite Gotham City to be put in a game. The atmosphere, coloring, & overall lighting is brilliant. On top of all of that, it is nice to have a Gotham that isnt post apocalyptic looking. Unfortunately it is very empty & a lot of the npc dialogue is repeated often leaving it feeling lifeless itself. The gameplay is fine but the story is very well done. I found myself enjoying the story in this more than Arkham Knight which is pretty impressive. But going back on what I said, the gameplay is JUST fine. That's unacceptable in 2022 & sad considering the last Arkham title from 7 years ago had more fluid elements to its gameplay.
All in all this game is just okay. For every pro there are 2 cons & the overall experience is just clunky & oddly rushed. There are a lot of neat ideas that work but in the end, this game was taken out of the oven a little too early. Hopefully in the future they can add some DLC that builds more of their vision because they have a decent foundation to build upon but the question is, will they?
Final verdict: Wait for a deep sale
