Summary

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is the eighth Crash Bandicoot series game, though the fourth chronologically. The game retains the series' core platforming gameplay and adds new elements through the use of the Quantum Masks, who can alter levels and provide means to traverse or overcome obstacles. It also includes additional game modes for replaying levels, and the ability to control five characters, three of whom – Cortex, Dingodile, and Tawna – have their own unique gameplay and levels.

A truly amazing sequel to classic Crash.
Well designed levels and smooth gameplay..
Loved the new mechanics!

A sequel well worthy of the original Crash trilogy. It does everything the originals do and more. Takes the existing gameplay and tightens it up while adding more features, more playable characters, more set pieces and scenarios, exciting level design... And ZERO vehicle missions (a blessing), and the most amazing callbacks long time crash fans could ask for.

The only major flaw is trying to 100% this game is not fun at all. It's jam packed full of challenging content which sounds nice but is actually tedious to complete due to the ridiculous requirements needed to get everything. This is a downside since the original trilogy are some of the funnest games to 100% and do complete them every time I replay them.
Unless you want to pull your hair out, I suggest just enjoying the game for what it is.

Fun, but serious design issues prevent it from reaching the heights of the original trilogy. Crash Bandicoots' core gameplay concepts are build around completion, but this game is tedious to complete. If you don't care about completion you're not engaging with half of the mechanics (e.g. breaking all crates, time trails). The thing is that doing a no death run or a time trial isn't as fun in this game as it is in Crash 3 because of the length of levels and the triple spin, the move that replaces the sprint. This leads to time trails where you constantly have to press the spin button, which is fun when you need to keep pressing it for up to approximately 2 hours of attempts as the stages are long and challenging. Getting all crates is also ruined on a lot of levels, as the designers thought it would be fun to hide the crates off camera or hidden behind background object. Will you run into an invisible wall or will you find a hidden crate? Have fun dying and losing the 3 deaths gem while you experiment. Getting to the end of the stage and missing out on a bunch of crates as a 'got ya' is not fun. These design choices really suck, as the levels themselves are great. The music is also not very memorable, a little disappointing for a Crash game.
