Summary

Battlestations: Midway is an immense action game that drops players into massive air, sea, and undersea battles from Pearl Harbor to the Battle of Midway.

slide 1 to 4 of 5
At first this was a pleasant surprise among the XBOX 360 library is this strategy sim based on the battle of Midway. Controls and general game operation took a little bit of a learning curve to get up and running, and I admit that when I first tried it, I put it right back down. Giving it another shot revealed more depth to the game, and while it can be entertaining, it's more painful than fun. It's an acquired taste and is not a fast paced experience whatsoever, though it is unique and combines strategy with sim in a way I don't usually see. You're better off with an RTS, but if you want to try something unique on the 360 or elsewhere and find this one for cheap, give it a go, if you can figure out it's somewhat nuanced menus and confusing controls. Probably won't touch this one again unless it somehow winds up in my lap again and I'm curious about giving it another chance...probably not.
